Antoine de Saint-ExupéryA modern alternative to SparkNotes and CliffsNotes, SuperSummary offers high-quality Study Guides with detailed chapter summaries and analysis of major themes, characters, and more. For select classroom titles, we also provide Teaching Guides with discussion and quiz questions to prompt student engagement.
These prompts can be used for in-class discussion, exploratory free-writing, or reflection homework before or after reading the novella.
Pre-Reading “Icebreaker”
When, how, and why do children grow out of psychological childhood? Do you have your own moments you can pinpoint when you found your childhood behind you?
Teaching Suggestion: Students can use this icebreaker as a class discussion on missing imaginations. Because the story includes an adult who rediscovers his childhood, students can also revisit this question after reading to talk about how adults can reclaim their childhood.
Personal Response Prompt
Of the characters in The Little Prince, who would you most like to be friends with? Why? What would this character bring to your life?
Teaching Suggestion: This question requires that students have both read the story and understood the symbolism behind each character. Students can answer this question through writing or a more creative project.
